CONF-APMM 2024

The 2nd International Conference on Applied Physics and Mathematical Modeling (CONF-APMM 2024) was a hybrid conference which includes several symposium series (offline and online) around the world. Dr. Marwan Omar from Illinois Institute of Technology and Dr. Javier Cifuentes-Faura from University of Murcia have chaired these symposium series on related topics. CONF-APMM 2024 provided the participants with good opportunities to exchange ideas and build networks, and it will lead to further collaborations between both universities and other societies.

The symposium "Mathematics and Big Data for Sustainability: Challenges, Opportunities and Future Directions" brought together several students from the University of Murcia and served to learn and to identify the importance of the mathematics to achieve sustainability. Big data has been discussed as an essential tool in many fields. The use of big data makes it possible to collect, store and analyse large amounts of data to find patterns and generate estimators to make judgements about a target in real time, improving its performance and delivering benefits. In recent years, resource depletion, environmental degradation and climate change have become increasingly pressing issues for society. Governmental organisations and a wide range of organisations have consequently come together to safeguard the environment and build a more sustainable global community. With the rise of big data, the goal is to achieve sustainable development by using data analysis to predict future events, prevent environmental catastrophes or reduce environmental degradation. Knowledge on the application of big data and mathematics to sustainability through an indicator-based approach has been reviewed and discussed.

Online Session

The online session of the 2nd International Conference on Applied Physics and Mathematical Modeling (CONF-APMM 2024) was held on September 20, 2024. Dr. Marwan Omar from Illinois Institute of Technology, Dr. Sharidya Rahman from Monash University, and Dr. Javier Cifuentes-Faura from University of Murcia have given keynote speech on related topics of applied physics and mathematical modeling. Also, we invited authors of qualified papers to deliver oral presentations at the online session. Authors have presented their studies of applied physics, mathematical modeling, etc. Questions from the audience were collected and answered by the presenters.

Accepted papers of CONF-APMM 2024 will be published in Journal of Physics: Conference Series (JPCS) (Print ISSN 1742-6588) or Theoretical and Natural Science (TNS) (Print ISSN 2753-8818), and will be submitted to EI Compendex, Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI), Crossref, CNKI, Portico, Engineering Village (Inspec), Google Scholar, and other databases for indexing. The situation may be affected by factors among databases like processing time, workflow, policy, etc.
